Thinking about picking up an E39, need advice...

Basically, my lease is about to run up on my E92. I've always loved the E39 body style, and I think a 4 door sports sedan would be just right for me. Thoughts? Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the one I'm looking at:

It's a 2001 540 with 75k on the clock.

Great cars. Watch for dead pixels on the display (can be fixed, and you might get BMW NA to do it for nearly free these days). And check to see if the radiator and/or expansion tank have been replaced recently. If they haven't, budget for it, as they only last about 50-70k miles (luckily, you can pick them up cheap, and they take about 15 minutes to replace).

I sure wouldn't do that, e39 > e60

Car seems to be in great shape. What is your budget? You can fetch a >80k E39 M5 for around 16-20k. Be sure to watch out for VANOS problems in early model E39's.

E39 M5's are costly to maintain from what I read, the 540i is a great car go for it especially since it has a MT.
