Awesome review of 118i 5 door

I like this review of the 118i, actually makes the car seem quite nice for what it is.

It is quite nice for what it is

Of course it doesn't hurt they get navigation, sport seats and auto in the base model. In Sweden we're not so lucky..

Yes, it is an excellent car!
I prefer it with a manual gearbox, M-Sport, and no navigation.

Yes it does. Those ain't free you should reckon. AT or MT at the same price is MT costs insanely, no bargain AT. Instead of having them strip you as they like you can strip yourself to your liking by ordering exactly what you want. The luck is as humble base as possible unless you are one of those pathetic smartasses that claim all-included base to beg huge discount on dealer's stock. I wouldn't buy somebody's (not mine!) favourite bullshit for my money and myself.

Navigation is good for money excess only (and the Professional is a street thieves bait): "No navigation. I know where I'm going." (a Porsche Cayman owner quote), sport seats don't fit fat ones reportedly, AT is a cripple's choice IMHO.

Tiny license plates depicted do suit a half-an-engine car. They remind me of this: http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showt...4#post17355254 - an M135i converted into a bulldozer. Those cars must be on a par in performance - Taiwan plate should really dump the power to push through the air.

one of a kind car as it is the only RWD on this segment (I suppose) but was this review really necessary in year 2018? man 1 series is almost discontinued as F20 chassis

And if they had chosen M-Sport, it would have had a knee bolster instead of the hard surface that was complained about in the review.

We never got it in the US so it's a new car to us. Wonder how much it costs to import one?

oh didn't know that. could cost more than anticipated if there is no US spec 1 series on their production line.

As a base model? I'd suggest they go M140i then. What they have looks clearly a Sport Line. It always had the knee pad too and it still does in LCI:

It's just some want more and we know where to look then. The same about rear air vents it "does not have". Of course it does: convenient to hide a screwdriver in. It's just those vents are for refreshing your sweaty feet. To get those for under your skirt it takes "Automatic air conditioning S534A" option (the advanced dual-zone one, the basic in the video is automatic too) a base model appears to miss badly.

A lot more than just to drive one in from Mexico: it's not road legal in US. It has been discussed around (in the sticky threads at the top perhaps) and right here in a neighbour thread (moved from BIMMERPOST Universal Forums) in particular: Surely I am not the only one - M140i Hatchback. Notice that by US standards 118i has no engine at all: BMW offers only mid to high engines there. A base US BMW model is advanced around the world.

Just bought a 118i Sport for the wife and agree this is a really good small car.
Its quite, smooth and nippy and easy to drive around town.
Actually i have been driving it more than my own car the past few weeks

Screwdrivers in airvents are good if you want to exercise

I did not mean it had been a good joke. Just referenced that thread. Like "watch your vents" (as it states).
