Autocar is a journal I cannot take seriously.

The M4 won both times. What the F are they talking about? Someone clarify please!

Clearly a victory for the M4. I have the still shots to prove it!!! How do you explain THIS, TURDCAR magazine?!!!

Such a shame with the quality of cars on offer. Not really liking the new lead guy at autocar, doesn't really seem qualified!!

A no go? As I pointed out with this link, these same fools drag raced the RC F and obliterated it. Go to the 50 second mark.

GT4 was the fastest. Obviously. M4 would be second if he could launch the damn thing. But this is a BMW forum and everyone's going to defend the M4 but we all know the Porsche is the better car.

Yeah, but the F12 ferrari (which does indeed have very broad tyres) manages to start with very good traction in launch control mode with 700 NM peak torque and 600 NM from 3,000 I believe. 0-60 in 3.1 seconds. Go figure.
Im sure the engineers from M can make the diff more pliant and soft, I simply thinks its too aggressive. There are enough reviewers saying that the 460 hp and 500 hp C63 puts its power down better than the M3.

The M4 is terrible from a dig. The torque overwhelms everything and the rear tires become a spinning mess...but I bet from a 30mph roll it would have been a very different story! The M4 is absolutely awesome and this was a very biased review IMO, designed to make the GT4 look as best as possible.

Yup the drivers suck that point is beaten to death. Why can't anyone also admit the M4 is overpowered and can't put its power down?

The guy driving the M4 is an effing tool....there is no way you can suck that bad at launching a car with a processor controlling everything.

No differential will help you in this regard. Some clever engine programming could reduce the torque such that uncontrolled wheel spin is avoided, but this is already happening if you enable the DTC/MDM mode. If I were a bad driver like in the video, I would just let all the systems on and the result would probably be far better than what came out from that test.
Just as a small precision though, because of the rearward weight transfer that occurs during acceleration, doubling the "contact area" with AWD will not double traction. I agree that AWD will yield a much better launch, however it will hamper acceleration at speeds where traction is not an issue due to increased weight and drivetrain losses.

The M4 in the video is a DCT BTW.

DCT is actually harder to launch than 6MT due to the 17% greater torque multiplication in 1st gear.

Yes the F12 launches better because it's not a typical front engine car. The engine is so far back. The C63 puts down power better because it is a lot heavier.

The i8 came in a very close second. Don't underestimate it. It's just a drag race.
