I am confident it will work as it fits. Since it turned out to be just plug and play I see no problems. The wires which I were unsure of were between the old wheel and the airbag, and no further connections to the car. The total number of wires between the wheel and the car were the same for both wheel types, and finally the confirmation of no warning lights should be enough to convince skeptics.

Should have also mentioned, that due to the obvious addition of the new steering wheel, I now have the old one for sale. It is basically a brand new M135i wheel and airbag from a Sept 2013 car. Thus has no marks or wear. Thanks, and PM me if interested.
