New member, new owner and new car

I know that you've probably seen way to many pics of 1 series by one but as I've given the car it's 1st clean in my 1st weeks ownership I thought I'd share some pics and initial thoughts

Likes:
I know it's probably a cliche to most but the quality of the interior is impressive.. High quality materials, great finish. I bought a stock car so was apprehensive about not being able to spec leather but love the quality of the Alcantara seats. The leather on the steering wheel is also nice on the hands..

The colour of the lights on the centre of the dash changing from white to orange as the daylight conditions change is a nice touch.

The Mpg that I'm seeing. On an engine that's being run in is pretty impressive.

Something else I like is the cruise control. I could nearly do my commute using the cruise control with it braking and accelerating via the toggle control.

Cleaning, boy are the wheels a breath of fresh air and so easy to clean

Dislikes:

Seats. I can't get comfortable for love nor money.... Where is the lumbar support on the bloody seats!

Steering wheel. It's a bit thick and is taking some getting used to!

Mpg.... Chasing a high figure is changing me as a person..... It's making me drive like a granny chasing high mpg

So they are some initial thoughts after my 1st week with the car. I'll update as I spend more time with it

On to the pics.....

I broke out the cleaning gear

The wheels were the 1st thing on the to do list and attacked with some wolfs deioniser

Then the car was snow foamed and washed

Normally I would have liked to have clayed and machine polished but time wasn't allowing today. Ive managed to wash and apply a coat of dodo juice orange crush

I've also modified it replacing the headlight bulbs as I bought a car that was already built so wasn't able to spec xenon..... Some might be able to spot the fail....

Stunning. You can't go wrong with M-sport!

I also aim for high fuel efficiency whenever I get a new car. The urge will soon wear off though

Congrats!

Mate, looks great. Can you run me through what car cleaning products you use and how you apply? Is the stuff you use for the wheels 100% safe and doesn't damage paint at all? How you get the foam over your car like that? Process?

Cheers

I'm sure my normal heavy right foot will return once it's run in. Although if I carry on like miss daisy I reckon I could see 60's out it

I'm a bit of a cleaning / bufty geek. All products are 100% safe

Wheels were done with wolfs deioniser http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/wolf-39-s-chemicals-deironizer-brake-duster-/prod_899.html

Then it was snow foamed using this http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/snow-foam/ultimate-snow-foam-5-litres.aspx. You'll need a pressure washer and suitable lance attachment and then you just spray on.

Car was washed with this http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/dodo-juice/born-to-be-mild-shampoo.aspx
And then patted dry with a thick drying towel so not to cause swirls.

The car really should've have then been clayed or at the very least ha a pass over with some of this http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/dodo-juice/lime-prime.aspx on the DA but didn't have time so gave a quick coat of this to make sure that it has some protection on until I can give it a machine polish

Great job...excellent car!!

I used to do a lot of car detailing myself...but now I do not have the time required. I still have a lot of good products (Swisswax, Zaino, Autoglym etc.) sitting around my garage. At some point I will use them!!

Great choice of colour on your car ..... Would've loved that colour but didn't get the chance to spec colour as I bought a car that was in stock to get the best deal

So what sealant have you used on the paint? Are any of those sealants, or was it done before hand?
My mpg is shocking, averaging 23.1mpg at the moment after 1400km's...
Have you got electric seats? Not sure, but I think there's no lumbar unless you have electric (comfort package)? I could be completely wrong though. Or maybe its standard with electric, but an option with manual seats?

Yes, the adjustable lumbar support is an option. I did not check that option, as I think the lumbar support is spot on with the standard sport seats.

I've used a wax not a sealant. White cars tend to react well to either. I've used dodo juice orange crush for now. When I get a bit more time it will get machine polished and then a coat of swissvax glacier.

I don't have electric seats so have no lumbar support..... My back is slowly getting used to them though

I just had the paint polished and then a coat of 22PLE VX1 Pro Glass applied yesterday. Must say it looks pretty damn good today! Would dodo wax be fine to use on that in the future?

Not too sure on that one as I know very little about that product.
