Mix of A and B roads, little M'way 31.5 - 33 mpg. Pretty amazing really given that I never think about economy when driving.

The first 2K miles it was more like 27-28 mpg
As mileage increases the engine will loosen up hence economy will be better.

To be honest I have no clue. The best fuel we get here is 95 Octane petrol. Unless we go out our way to get 105 Octane racing fuel. But that gets expensive.

Yeah, I've noticed that with almost everyone that I've asked. They all say consumption is usually at it's worst when they first get their BMW's

Manual 125d averaging 51.5mpg on brim test (car computer is showing 53.5mpg). That's over 10k miles of 50/50 town/motorway.

I make no attempt at driving economically, use comfort mode around town, sport mode on the motorway as i prefer the heavier steering. The only time i go near Eco pro is when stuck in traffic and only then because the dulled down accelerator makes clutch control easier.

Surprised in a good or bad way?

That figure reflects journeys where I drive on open roads at 90-110km/h to reach a challenging twisty section of 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear corners. I suspect I'd be getting 15-17l/100km in those bits, and nearer 7l/100km cruising gently.

In a bad way although I suppose you do have a M135i so in retrospect it's not that bad after all.

For someone who doesn't make any attempt at driving economically I call that an astounding fuel consumption!

For a car that can to sub-5 0-60's, rev to 7000rpm, weighs over 1500kg and has the Cd of a portaloo, the economy is absolutely astounding.

M135i - 17,500 miles overall average 33.3mpg

At a steady 70mph I can easily achieve 42mpg on a trip

70% of my trips are motorway cruising, the rest are urban / country with a good deal of enjoyment - foot down!

In comparison my Golf GTI returned 28mpg average over 82,000 miles, with the same driving style

Really good fuel consumption. Interesting to see the comparison to the GTI very impressed with BMW.

Yes, the M135 is quite a performer in both performance and economy. I also do a lot of motorway trips, hence the 8.0l/100k average over 8,000k. In contrast, my previous car, an Audi 8P S3, averaged over 9.3l/100k over the same driving regime.

Oh, and for the record, my average speed over 8,000 k is 69kph
