Cruise control?

Hi all,

I have an F20 120d M Sport in Estoril blue on the way which I got for an incredible deal (brand new).

It's not kitted out with all the extras which is fine, but I had expected cruise control to be standard, and I now see it's not. Again, this is fine, I don't use it often and I can cope without it.

However, I have noticed on some pictures of the steering wheel on cars without cruise, there's still a LIM button. Can you set a limit, or is this just an idle button that does nothing?

Cheers.

You may have a problem but way not ask your dealer first as they would know better than us

From research it appears they all have the speed limiter as standard, which is great.

I thought that Cruise control came standard on all M Sport models
It was standard on my 125i M sport when I originally ordered mine.
Perhaps it is an extra on diesels

If you select the 118d here on the 'Build your BMW' with all standard items, this is what comes up.

Is does in our part of the world but we do get higher spec cars as standard.

Hi.

Yes I can. The car will "choke" when it hits the limit, quite unpleasantly, so I don't use it despite some hope on it initially.

I thought the accelerator would go "tight" near the limit, but it does not (or do I have a "heavy foot"? ). So when the limiter is applied, I still have to watch the green dot on the speedometer to avoid hitting it.

The limiter looks useful if you go well below the limit, but if you wish to keep on it, it turns out just the old way of staring at the dial, which I actually do without applying the function. It looks nice but not much more than that.

Yet, when I drove a loan current 3 series, it's limiter felt more tactile with the accelerator, so there might be a chance you won't find it idle.

Thanks for the replies.

One more question, could someone confirm that, without any upgrade, cars from late 2014 onwards have bluetooth audio streaming as standard?

I think the limiter is great once you get used to it. Here in CN not even a M135i has cruise control as standard...

Can anyone fit this in the UK? Getting mixed messages from BMW garages regarding it fitted.

Needs coding as well. About $350 USD including labor.

I reckon this LIM function is fantastic and in town by far better than cruise control which comes into it's own on an open road or highway.
It is NOT abrupt and it gently limits the spped to a preset value with the minimum of 30.
Like I said, in town I use it every day and you never get overexcited and get a fine for speeding

I have to second Kamazzi the limiter function is very good. You can override it of course just hold your foot down to the floor and after a couple of seconds it'll let you passed the limiter but driving normally it's a handy way to stay legal in areas with lots of speed cameras

When I test drove a manual 118d before ordering my auto, I had a play with the limiter and I was impressed with it. I had read people saying it made the engine stutter and act a bit lumpy but it was very smooth. It was also handy that if you put your foot down it breaks through it, handy for dual carriageway or motorway use.
