BMW Connected App compatibility

Has anyone managed to make this work with their F20?

Doesn't seem to be an amazing app but it does seem to have some nice features like a summary of the OBD.

Seems to have stumped my dealership as to whether it's something that should just work via the USB port in the armrest with my car's options or whether it needs a special adapter of some kind that replaces the entire Nav professional screen (which would be stupid). Don't seem to have a BMW Apps sub-menu in the ConnectedDrive menu either. Makes me wonder if I need to pay for some software upgrade...

You need to add the Apps option when you buy the car.

Thought as much. Is it just a software upgrade?

Didn't work with my iPhone 5s although I have a connected drive sub menu in my system
Just bought the cradle adaptor for iPhone 4S going to test if it works with that and give feedback

I connect with my iPhone 5S using simply a Apple USB-Lightning cable.
Have used the M Laptimer app multiple times, in my F21 as in my father's.
We both have the Nav Professional and Apps etc.
