You can use your local garage, as long as they use BMW LL-04 spec oil and a genuine BMW oil filter. I prefer the my friendly authorised service, because they do it for free (I provide my own oil and I pay only for the filter)...but for the normal prices thay charge, I would opt for a local garage as well.

Not by itself. You have to reset it, either via the diagnostic tool (if the garage has one), or by yourself through the ervice menu (there is a process for this, but I do not remember it exactly. It involves pressing the odo reset button and keeping it pressed, while you switch on the ingition, without turning on the engine and then you get the service menu).

Hello Fani, you said that you provide your own oil. What oil do you prefer for the F20? You can PM me if you like for the brand and full specs.

I haven't done it myself, but somehow they use a massive M18 screw.

BTW for some reason BMW recommends the screw to be replaced every time you change oil, which I find strange.

I am just wondering is there a washer that may need to be replaced, and what is the tightening torque value? I am wondering because my previous car needs t

Thank you in advance.
when you buy a new filter, it comes with a new screw. So you change with the new one.
They are plastic now. And the torque on the screw is 8Nm as stated on the screw.

I guess there is no reliable source for the filter, but in any case prepared my own oil used Mobile 0W-40. It drives just like the Castrol they use, just for reference I guess. It is certified by BMW LL01 and that supposedly more strict Mercedes standard.
