Of course these wheels are perfect for sporty driving, but how about comfort on rough roads or in city traffic?

The comfort is really good. The m-sport suspension on f20 is very soft much softer than e87 and e90 i had before. Whit the h&r sport springs it's stiffer now it's like the old e87 m-sport. Orginal f20 m-sport roll and pitch a lot feels very unstable. this suspension was a disappointment

But for me - since I use the car mostly in urban traffic - it is not that important. But at least I will probably trade the standard 17" to 18". While 19" would give a too low tyre profile for the poor roads in Oslo.....

Great looking car!
Are these the 35mm H&R springs or the 45-50mm? Do you think it would be possible to use 235/35 and 265/30 tyres without any rubbing? |

Ok. Thank you.
Slightly larger tires would add some extra comfort and those dimensions works great on the 3 series. H&R 35mm looks low enough for a dailydriver here in scandinavia. |

You, Jonas, made me change my order from Alpinwhite to Valencia Orange last monday! First time I saw proper pics of an M-F20 in VO, and I loved it! I will pick up my VO-116d in less than 4 weeks!
BTW: The BBS are equally awesome and just perfect for the car. Unfortunately I found the pricetag to be not so perfect for my wallet . Last edited by 1thomas; 06-08-2012 at 02:45 AM.. |

Well I went for a websearch for german shops and ended up with 440€ a piece in his size (8x and 9x19 et40/et44, or any other 19" version). The same shop lists all 18" for 380€, the 20" for 480€. Those are german prices, tax and shipping (within germany) included.

I disagree. My opinion is that that the F20 handles better than the previous models. It has become a wider track, and better balance. The body roll and pitch with regular street tires is not enough to upset the car. I think you will struggle to find a car with equal power to weight ratio that can beat it on a track in stock form.
And the car is by no means unstable. You can enter bumby high speed corners on a track with ABS working, and the car does not get out of line. I usually upgrade the suspension and change the alignment on my cars, but with the F20 M Sport I plan to leave it completely stock. |

Making a good compromise between good comfort and sporty handling is what BMW does best. Every new generation of cars gets more comfortable, but maybe also faster with the same power. I guess they can seem less sporty, but the new cars perform very well in corners when they are pushed.
If you are only into the fun factor, older cars are usually better. Every generation since the E30 has become slightly more boring to drive. Last edited by ovekvam; 06-28-2012 at 03:43 AM.. |
