Your thoughts

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi all, first time post was just after your thoughts:

Car is via a lease company and need to order my next car. Looking at the 1 series and cant make my mind up on either a 118 d sport or a 116d msport.
All down to cost but the msport is around £10 per month more.

Any info in which will be better.

Regards

I like the looks of M sport a lot more but if it's all down to cost I think the 118d is better value.

Performance over looks imo, the car is all about driving pleasure right? that extra umpf under the hood will increase the funfactor. You probably spend more timing driving the car rather than staring at the car admirig the mpack

The other way is to visit your BMW dealer and see what sort of deal you can get on a 118 M Sport (A showroom demo 118 M Sport may be a good option).

Go to two BMW dealers and haggle the price, then when you have got the lowest price, talk to them about the lease option as it will be the same lease company that you will use.

If need be, put a little extra in yourself to cover the difference. It will be worth it.

Given the term is normally 3 years+, the difference could only be 30 pounds a month between the 118d sport and the 118 (i / d) M Sport. Or the same value if you get a demo. Who knows, you may be able to get a demo 120d M Sport.

Think of it this way.
If it is a company car, the company is paying this set amount per month, you get to drive the M Sport for just a few extra pounds a month. Negiotate it with your boss
Also, consider that you may want to buy it at the end of the term.

I would pay the little extra per month for the 118i M Sport

I have the 118D, love the torque, if you like the M sport get the biggest motor you can afford then cut down on the options you don't need. Nothing worse than getting brand new car you don't want and under powered .

Thanks for the input chaps, well went back to BMW 2nd time sat in both a sport then the m-sport.

I have ordered the 116d msport in Estorel Blue, m sport swayed me by the seats and the dark roof lining. Ahh well 3 months to wait beofore delivery.
