New 1 Series hot or not?

Personally I think the rear lights look like they were made by the Toyota factory.

Your thoughts?

I think the rear lights look more like something from VW. Neither prettier or uglier than the previous ones. The front headlights are definitely prettier, but the rear bumper is slightly uglier. The front bumper is a nice improvement for non-M-Sport, and a slight downgrade for M-Sport.

Overall the facelift looks slightly better than the "old" model.

I think it looks a little less aggressive. But the head lights look much better.

It's so nice you care.

Cold. To me, LCI only proved it can always get worse. It's just dull at best. The huge and shapeless pre-LCI headlights now look distinctive, plain rear lights look of clear and restrained design. But they pleased the crowd!

Furthermore, LCI looks reminiscent of Korean carts, the back end in particular. IMHO, Koreans would shamelessly/shamefully mimic Japanese brands (Toyota/Lexus primarily), then respectable brands of Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW. Their own design was even worse, ugliness masterpiece. Now that they've improved just a tiny bit about their own, BMW has turned that around. It looks like they are pushing the idea of 1 Series being not a real BMW yet, an "entry model" in the sense "Don't stand in the doorway, go right on in!".

The shape of the rear lights reminded me the most of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

I like the LCI front, but not the rear. That looks a bit cheap and is using similar architecture to many other cars by having the light pack come over onto the boot lid.
I liked the more aggressive stance of the original M Sport rear
If they had the new LCI front and kept the originals rear lights and did a subtle change to include twin pipes like on the M135i that would have worked for me.
Sorry about the crap photo work on this image

Talking of the M135i the M must stand for marketing. It is not even a true M car. No limited slip differential to mention one...

I would have to agree the front looks good but the rear not so good.

I think you can order the limited slip differential as an option now.

The most annoying of the M front bumper is to my sight the big closed plastic sides with tfog lights. Clear win design over function, a shame and so apparent its embarrassing. The non M, normal sport line, has actually quite nice and fully operative air channels to the front brakes, even if it doesn't look aggressive.

Aren't the brake cooling channels in the center section? At least they are in my pre LCI 116i M-Sport, and I think it looks rather similar on the LCI cars.

Not sure how the M bumper channels air to the brakes, if it does. It looks big and closed at the sides, but I haven't taken a closer look. Prelci M looks to me completely different, more functional and it looks the sides are open. But I don't know for sure either.

The normal spirt lci bumper has a center section with a small wing for the intercooler, and two side channels for brakes, small but fully operative.

The rear lights of lci looks more bmw identity, as the big hatches 3tourer,x ...not necessarity prettier, but more bmw. Alfa Romeo is just gorgeous...not a german box.
