Screw all theme parks. Burn 'em down!!!!

Couple weeks ago went to Raging Waters park. 4 tickets was 110$ purchased at Costco.
Went to the county fair and dropped about $50 for the two of us.
Yesterday went to a trampoline park, Rockin jump, spent 20$ for the two us to jump around for a half hour.
Day before, went to an aquatic park and got out by only dropping $25 for two hours.

Yeah, summer fun does add up.
Did you take Skunkwerks ?

Cedar Point (roller coaster park) in Ohio is $50. Water parks are about $30.

Single park admission to Disney in FL has been at least $100 for 10 years now IIRC.

Yes, it's expensive for 8 hours of entertainment.

you're saying this was easily a $3000 trip? BC AMEX doesn't budge for followup for small potato spending....did you booked it through their travel/experience site?

I wouldn't be bitching about 3K. Cost of doing business.
This was 4 aircraft tickets, 2 FC. 3 day passes for both parks, nice hotel, food, car service, etc.

On the other hand, watching the parents and kids having meltdowns in the souvenir shop at 10 pm after the 5 year old has been up for 14 hours was priceless.

Disney and Universal, on the other hand, have out-priced many people. Even with FL discounts, it's crazy. Plus, getting speedpass/fastpass/expresspass, whatever pass to get to the front of the lines costs as much as the park entry fee itself, sometimes even more . Next year we'll go to Disney and Universal, however, no season passes as they want at least $500 down and even Disney would charge the first month payment the same day so it's basically $600 down up front.
Sporting events, I've given up going to those. Better to sit at home on my cold hearted ass holding a iced cold Corona bottle from a 18 pack for $19 at the local Walmart compared to paying overpriced parking fee's, $15 beer's and $25 double cheeseburger with crinkle fries.
So what you're saying is, yes. Correct?

I mean, if people are financing the costs of park entry over 12 months, WITH a down payment, it must be too effing expensive.

On the flip side, you can drive a van full of people into a national park for only $30. And that pass is good for 7 days.

Good move. Maybe a change of venue is what he needs for an attitude adjustment.

wow I'm guessing you probably spent $4k-$5k. Yeah, a Euro trip (for 2) is definitely in that range for at least airfare and first few days lodging.

So did you book through AMEX website? Or you booked separately? I'm curious how they would know what you were doing when they called you.

Part myself and part using the concierge. I'm a pretty experienced traveler and only use them for the tedious bits I don't want to be bothered with. All payed for using AMX Plat.

oh nice. Did concierge work out? I have the Plat too, but haven't used concierge yet. Might do it for a few hard to get restaurants, but that's about it.

there's also a sold out concert I'm interested in that had a Amex presale, you think they have a few more face-value tickets for sale for Plat members?

The tickets are set aside for Plat members and they usually have backstage experiences, as well. We did this at a Wynton Marsalis Concert. It was fantastic. Same with restaurants, especially openings. Once they figure out your profile they will start feeding you suggestions.

BMW Concierge is also pretty good, as well. Do you use them?

Disney is out of control! I'm not a die hard fan of Disney at all.. I had several friends that all had resident passes who talked me into finally getting a gold pass with a small blackout window. Last year was no problem. We had fun as a group and I was able to go 5 or 6 times so it wasn't so bad price wise. I was well under the average price of a single ticket. There was only one occasion that i couldn't join everyone because of my blackout dates. Soooo my renewal came along last August when i took my nephew and i decided to go another round and bump to platinum with no blackouts. A few weeks later they announced the huge price increase and everyone in my disney park crew was in a renewal month and said eff that i'm not renewing and i was left hanging with 10 months and only one very expensive visit so far for the year. I don't mind doing things on my own but I wasn't going to have any solo disney adventures. My situation was not totally disney's fault, but they really alienated a lot of people who had been long time pass holders with their price gouging. I guess all the storm troopers that they had to put on payroll put a strain on their modest little business. Anyway thats my rant.. fuck you mickey, fuck you.

I have to admit waiting 2 hours in line around lots of cranky kids to see Woody and Buzz.....to be able to take my own pics (not PhotoPass) of my 2 1/2 yo son in amazement of being held by Woody, was priceless. They did reprimand the actor for improper ******* however, that was the only other bad part

Where my wallet gets hit is usually around Baseball and Hockey season. I'm walking distance to Camden Yards so I go to a lot of games. $40 seat + beers and food - I'm usually out $80+ just on myself. That's just at the stadium...if the guys want to go out either pre or post game, it'll be an expensive day/night. I'm going to buy a 13game plan next year

Caps games - $65-85 ticket + time to deal with the DC metro or pay $35 to park locally + $8 beers and food. Date night at the game? Fuck might as well take take out a personal loan.

I'll try to hit at least 1 Raven's game usually get out of there under $200/person. I prefer to watch football on TV though.
