I'm really curious about something
If we had seen the leaked pics, without the BMW badging
Say it had a Hyundai or Kia badge
What would the general outlook be?
My guess?
We all would have hated it
I think the only saving grace for it is the BMW badge

No, sorry, I will not buy it. . With a 50%discount, I might be tempted, but unsure.

I think that once several people see the 1er in the flesh that the design will come to resonate with them. I was sceptical at first too, when I first saw it a few years back but as I became more familiar with the car , I actually grew to like it. That is why I am defending it because the only contact you have had with the car is these pictures. The real test for the design is that you have to see it as it is, not in pictures but in real life where every detail becomes much clearer.

It looks good on the move too and you will see this in just a few hours. The above rendering is very close to the car's M-Sport Packet , The new 1er Sporthatch actually looks more premium than it's predecessor.

I saw the red one and thought ugh. Then I saw the urban in the blue with the silver accents and grill and really liked it. Overall I think it's going to do just fine.

The leaked photoshop located at the top of this page was so COOL !

At least the coupe will look like this (hopefully), but I'm pretty sure it won't :

OMG yes this is what I was expecting..

BMW please just copy this rendering for the front. It's an awesome evolution of the e87 with the new design language introduced.

So you stick the key fob in the cupholder to start the car?

This seals it for me - they make the 1er ugly on purpose, otherwise people would just buy the 3. Why else would their entire (incredibly skilled) design team make it look like that when an average Joe can render something much more attractive in about 15 minutes?

Okay.. so it's now been about 24 hours and I think... I think... it's growing on me... not sure.. I am really keen to see one in the flesh. The back end is still boring IMO... but I'm almost prepared to give the front a chance.

It's still better looking than the X1.

I hope you are right as well. You made the comment that it looked better in silver. Another poster that of the two, the red made the front look really flat and the dark metallic blue really highlighted the intricacies of the design. Can we see it is silver with the M-Sport?

...And, of course, can we please get it in the US?

This looks 100 times better. Less space between the kidneys and headlight corners. Shrinking the headlights vertically makes them look MUCH more aggressive and not so bulbous. I was looking forward to the new 1er too.

Anyone know is BMW has a general email where people can email them feedback? I'd like to email them the link to this page for comment review.

First they take away normally aspirated motors and now this abysmal little rolling turd. As the owner of a 2011 1-Series, I hate this car. This is what happens when you allow designers to drink on the job!

Ditto on the barf
