Park Assist option

Hi all,

After looking at numerous reviews throughout this forum, I noticed that no one has ticked the option for park assist. What's the reason? (other than parking skills good enough so don't need it)

The parking assist will help you park like this
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

...but speaking for my self, I don't park like that very often, and I don't think it's very hard either. Especially not with such a small car that also has PDC. If the park assist also helped me park like this

...then maybe I would have spec'ed it.

Garage List
For me, it was mainly for the following 2 reasons (in order of importance):

1. For the system to work it needs a parking space of approx. 5.5 meters (vehicles length + approx. 1.2 meters) and usually I park in tighters spaces than this.

2. I do not park a lot in parking spaces, as I have a garage both at work and home, so i would not use it that often.

3. Could not justify the cost, I prefer to add other options for that price.

For my money I'd rather take the mirror package which tilts down the passenger side mirror when you put the car into reverse so you can see the curb (electric memory seats also does this but is far more expensive). A lot more useful. Also offers the functionality of electrically folding mirrors and auto dimming mirrors.

Like the others I didn't take it cause didn't think I'd use it.

I had it on my 118i for my girlfriend... but it almost never worked in the small streets....

But when it worked it was very precise.

I bought an ex-demonstrator which came with Park Assist. I don't use it a lot as I avoid on-street parking if possible, but when appropriate I almost always use it for parallel parking and it works really well. Although, I would say that if you're in a hurry you might prefer to park manually. Overall I think that it's useful and not particularly expensive as long as you also wanted the front parking sensors.
