Winter Tyre size?

My F21 is due in Oct and I am hoping to have some winter wheels fitted immediately.

Will a set from the previous shape 1 series fit?
Currently looking at a set of steels/winter tyres that are 185/60/16.

Or should I be looking at a different size?

Many thanks in advance

The size you are quoting is wrong. for 16'' rims, you can fit either 195/55/16 or 205/55/16 tyres.

I think 185 will be slightly too narrow for a heavy car like the F20. Narrow tyres perform well in slush, but they deform too much in dry/wet conditions, and they are slightly down on grip on ice.

205/55-16 is a very popular size, so you should get a lot of tyre for your money there.

Previous 1 series wheels do not fit the F20 as the F20 uses M14 bolts where as the old 1 series uses M12...

Basically the holes in the old alloys are too small

I'm looking at getting some winter wheels myself and have decided to go for 205's, don't want to go any smaller as I don't want to compromise on non-snow grip
