A45 AMG autocar review

I read this with quite a large sigh of relief, as I am still waiting for delivery of my M135i and didn't want it to be beaten beforehand.

My thoughts would be the A45 is overpriced, and that it is still a front wheel drive car with added traction rather than a well sorted 4 wheel drive car in respect to handling. The nail in the coffin for me would be 4 cylinder noise and feel.

So, apart from the future facelift making my purchase obsolete shortly after delivery, I am still very happy with the choice.

AMG had do a highly strung engine in its A45 to give it the bite needed to take on the rivals. It is not a Stradivarius like you get in a M engine

The good news for us is that both the 125i and M135i have plenty in them to M tune and already have great driving dynamics

I am sure that when BMW decide to release a new M1 or M2 it will run rings around the Merc.

By the sounds of it, despite not offering a full on the road review, the A45 AMG isnt 5-6k better than the M135i at all. Being handed over to AMG it was always going to be a good car. Im still firm over my belief that its more visually appealing than the BMW. But I think Merc have shot themselves in the foot only putting a 2.0ltr engine in it tbh.

I considered waiting for the test drive of both that and the S3 but i've not been overly impressed by current reviews of the BMW's rivals. Couple of weeks and plenty of dealer research and I should have my car. Theres enough 13 plates with the spec i'm after to stop me having to order brand new.

that "BRUMMPH" sound when u change gear in A45amg is amazing

but in the end its an AMG, my CLS63 in comfort mode gear change just terrible. the computer just to slow.
I have to turn off traction go to manual mode for the gear to respond fast

its a German Lancer Evolution, small engine big turbo.
