Horn faulty

I have an intermittent problem with my horn. It's been to BMW twice now and they can't find a fault with it and say I'm not pushing hard enough. How sensitive is yours?

I made a video when it was playing up, just wondering what you think before I take it back again.

How often do you use it anyway? I've had the car for more than 2 years, and I don't think I have ever used the horn or the foglights out on public roads.

I did however use the horn a couple of times on trackdays when other cars didn't let me pass.

Well the other day when a car decided to go right in the left lane at a roundabout and he was indicating left! I was in the right lane and I'd have liked to have warned him of my presence, luckily he saw me at the last second.

Perhaps you don't get bad visibility under 100m in Norway then so no need to use fog lights.

The range of the fog lights is very short, maybe 10-15m. I think the low beams do better than the fogs in foggy weather. The rear fog lights can however be useful when cars are catching up from behind.

Of course the fronts don't do much but some people seem to like them to see the edges of the road. I'm surprised you haven't had the chance to use the rears.

I'll take the car back tomorrow for the horn as whether I use it or not it's an MOT requirement here.

I think it is slightly dangerous to use foglights, as it draws your vision too close to the car. As a driver, you need to focus ahead, not in the ditch 10 meters ahead of the car. Too much light right in front of the car will make it difficult to see further.

I'd call that faulty, although I do note mine takes a bit of a push to make it work.

(In Australia, we tend to use the horn to move on the odd, errant kangaroo that hops onto the road...that's if you see it! Oh, and dopey drivers!)

I use my horn most days and it's booked in with them again next week so fingers crossed they do something like a replace a part like the switch rather than do nothing again.
