my 2013 pre-LCI F20 now feels like a 2017 LCI F20...
I've just had my steering rack replaced on pre-LCI [Sept 2013] F20 car by BMW.
My car went initially for randon rattle / rumble from RHS front - the dealer did PUMA adaptive FW update - which is alledgedly suppose to fix a known problem with clonks/thumps/rattles from adaptive dampers. That didn't cure my issue, hence the EPS rack change out. I was told that parts had been superceded and I'd be getting newest version of EPS rack and associated control module. Car had latest assorted ECU re-flashes including VDC [variable damping control]. My pre-LCI car now feels like the latest encarnation both in terms EPS feel and damping responses. Since above FW update, adaptive damper responses and hence road manners are much better compared to previously. My M135i's comfort mode now feels taut but still supple, like M2xxi comfort. Sport / sport+ mode feels noticeably tauter. EPS rack in comfort mode is now more responsive and direct with a heavier feel plus differential in feel between comfort and sport is less.

Each to their own - you must like cosmetic for the looks / touch and maybe extra dark tints in your car's glass so no one can see you licking windows as yr driving around in yr LCI wannabe.

I think the pre LCI F20 felt slightly more responsive, but that is probably due to the wheels. I have the stock M Sport runflats now, while I had a square setup of non runflat Michelins on the pre LCI car.

I drove an 2017 LCI 320d m sport loaner whilst my car was in getting steering rack replaced. I was pleasantly surprised about how this car rode (on RFT) and the directness of its steering compared to older f3x 3 series I get to drive from time to time ( both SE and m sport all on RFT's. A consistent failing on beemers I've owned - past and present - is the off centre vagueness of their steering. Despite the assorted upgrades on my pre LCI m135i on NRFT MPSS, that off centre vagueness was lessened but still evident. Now with new EPS rack, control module and FW mods that foible is lessened in my car's helm. Having driven m2's and m140i's, I'm happy that the fix has got rid of the errant noises and my car's refreshed, improved road manners are a very welcome by-product !!!

Don't threaten him: they are closing the tunnel already. When you hijack a thread with biting comments being unwelcome is quite to be expected. If you were really being naïve: you pointed out an LCI rack was not yet an LCI car and that was rude.
