The bumper doesn't flex enough and there is some stuff in the way as well.

You can either rip out the old ones, damaging the clips, or you'll have to remove the front bumper..

I got my hand in there on mine. It hurt like hell, but I still managed to loosen the top clips. I still couldn't get the others off, so I constructed a tool out the handle of a spoon to help me (image). The spoon got the job done, so wouldn't have needed to loosen the bumper like I did.

Hi guys, I recently got my grills removed after spending some time learning how to do it.

I'll be posting a step-by-step soon on how to get the job done

@Bradbury your tool worked like a charm

Ive got a set of original M135i grills taken from my Sept 13 car when it had less than 5,000 miles on it. PM me if you still need a set to spray.

Just wrap them in vinyl. Was fairly easy to do and won't chip!

Wrong - I'm a 19stone 6'5" ex rugby player with hands like shovels and forearms that Popeye would be proud of.

If the f2x bumper flexed enough for me to get my hand in to unclip 1st grill, it'll work for most on here.

to recap, you can just unclip without removing anything? 3 clips top and bottom?

I would have guessed you can get these from any BMW Dealer? I think the prices are similar to the UK dealers.

Removing the front bar screws may or may not work depending on how brave you are in pulling it forward, all seemed too hard on mine.

I used a combo of a hook set and trim removal tools. Hook set was just right to push the clips in and the trim set acted as a pry and third hand! Trim set was safe on the paint also.

Trick was to work the first grill out as that gives a ton of extra access and working space to the second grill.

Once the old ones are out it is a five second job to install the new ones. A relatively easy mod which looks awesome.

I got these but not terribly excited about the quality.
Maybe getting the OEM black one and some decal for the M color would've been better!
