Hi all
Today, I have received an email from my dealership regarding to winter tyre packages. I have searching for the information but it makes me confused. I need your opinions! Should I swap my summer tyres to winter tyres? Many thanks! |

Has anybody fitted these through a main dealer? I was wondering if it is possible to get them down on the price?

I am finding Winters are very good in this cold weather (with no ice / snow)...feel much more sticky than summers .
I got 10% off mine with a man dealer, but you will have to store them your self. Look on eBay as well, as one dealer has the offered on their. I used this to get a price match

I live in South Wales so very little chance of snow. However, my car feels much more poised on winter tyres in the greasy conditions autumn brings in this part of the world.

I just want the peace of mind, i once had to abandon my old 120i M-Sport 15 miles from home when so much snow came down in 2 hours the roads went from dry to impassable. I have two valleys to cross on my journey home from Harrogate to North Bradford.

Superb, i've seen some great photos people have taken of thier cars on here. Maybe we should organise an F20 photography competition and all vote on the winner? Just for fun.

Just ordered winter tyres package and will change them on Friday.
But I heard a strange news from the dealership. Is there any recall on F20? He said my car will be updated FEM software. Anyone knows that? |

Not heard about that, but if its just a software update i can't imagine its too serious. I think just about every new car i ever owned has been recalled at some point for a sensor glitch or software issue or some such.

The service man said that the matter is overpower supply into FEM and it will be fixed by software update. And it will take more than a day. They offered me a loan car for manual transmission but I can't drive it. To be honest, I dropped in another dealership in the town. My previous dealership (I bought mine in this shop) hasn't mentioned anything about it.
Thank you JonF1982! |

Is it ok to change just the tyres or is better to buy a separate wheel and tyre set for Winter? My dealer has said that changing tyres can damage the tyre wall and therefore recommends a separate winter set. However, a national tyre specialist has said that it doesn't matter. My preference would be to change the tyres as this is considerably cheaper. Confused!

Here in Norway, 99 percent of all car owners have an extra set of winter wheels. It costs less than swapping tires on the rims in the long run, unless you have equipment to do it yourself. It is also more practical and convenient. Remember that the extra set of wheels still have some value when you are selling the car.
