Squeaky brakes

I got my new F20 118i on thursday but since friday i noticed some squeaking from the brakes. It only happens from 10-0kmh so just the last part before i stand still. Its quite loud at times. Its not a grinding noise btw but more like a pig scream

Now some say go to your dealer, the others say its normal, brake dust probably, just brake hard a few times and its gone. At lots of dealers they look at it and just say your brakes are fine and leave it at that...

Any of you had the same problem? My friend says his dad had the same problem and it was solved after a bit of riding. But then you have people n forums saying it lasted for months and months...

This is probably the same issue as the one on a recent post
The Brake noise is probably due to the hand brake pads (seperate from the disc pads) slightly rubbing whilst they seat in on the Hand Brake drum.

If you cannot stand the noise
You can fix it by driving your car slowly for a few hundred metres.
With the hand brake engauged to the take up point (nearly stopping the car) You simply drive along and release/pull on and off for a about 10 seconds at a time for a minute or two (this will 'seat' the pads). When you have released it and the noise disappears it should be OK from then on. If this does not fix it, take the car back to your dealer

But if it comes from the parking brake, it should also make the same noise when rolling slowly without braking.

Same problem for me. The dealer told me it is from parking brake and to do some stuff as explained above to make it disappear.
Honestly I do not like the fact that I paid for premium car and that I have to follow some procedure to make sure it does not sound like a piece of crap when I brake especially when i payed extra for m sport brake...

I took my car to my dealer and they "fixed" the problem. A few days later, the problem showed up again... (Not that bad as before, but sometimes at lower speeds the noise appears). I'll take again my car in two weeks.

My experience is that various brake problems can happen on all cars, but they are more common with more sporty brake pads. Brake squeal and vibrations are maybe the most common symptoms. Luckily they can typically be removed by running in the brake pads again.

Procedure:

Do a series (5-8) of braking exercises where you go from 100 km/h to 20 km/h and back rather quickly. Don't stop. If the brakes start to fade or smell strongly, you have done enough.

After the last one, keep driving without stopping or touching the brake pedal for 5-10 minutes, to let the brakes cool down.

I have "fixed" brakes on several cars this way. On our F20 with the small brakes, it has not been necessary yet.

Another stupid countermeasure from my dealer: do not use the parking brake, just engage a gear!
