I am used to M12 lug bolts. The F20 seems to have M14 lug bolts. What is the specified tightening torque from BMW?

It should be stamped on the side of the wheel snanner that comes with your car

It is a 17 mm socket.

Thanks, same socket size as my golf used , I dont have the car yet so had no other way of checking.

Without this becoming a daft question, do the F20's that have runflats come with the usual jack/spanner set for removal of a wheel: eventhough they dont have a spare wheel? first time without a spare

No, there is no jack, so BMW does not want us to take the wheels off the car ourselves.

Thats daft, does anyone know whether you can get a jack from BMW direct? would come in handy for putting the winter tyres on when the car arrives, dont have a trolley jack unfortuantely, and im not soo confident in finding the right spot to use one of those underneath the car.

The jacking points are clearly marked, and you can get a generic jack as a spare part from BMW. I bought an aftermarket scissor jack to keep in the car at all times. I also bring an electric compressor, a torque wrench, and a plugging kit. But then again I don't use the runflat tires.

Thanks, think ill invest in the jack as you say, i remember on the Golf that it had a funny lip that only the VW jack looked like it would fit

The black plastic “box” in the top right is the driver’s side rear jacking point. Much better for a trolly jack that the Volkswagen "use the strengthened bit of the sill"

Thanks very much for the pic theotherjohn, so i can just put a trolley jack underneath that and lift? as will the plastic housing be strong enough to support the weight of the car? Never really used a trolley jack before, i was put off when i was told that you could only use it underneath the suspension struts etc.. to which i never could work out which part of the suspension was safe to use it on

I recommend using a jack pad to protect the car when using a trolley jack. They are cheap and robust, and distributes the load softly onto the jacking point. You can probably get jack pads that fit perfectly into the plastic box as well.
