Couple of Questions before adding Xenons to my M-Sport Order?
Hi Guys,
I've been advised that not having Xenons in my F20 order is a big So I'm considering having them as part of my order. So I've spoken to my dealer and it looks like I can still add them to my car. I have some serious budget constraints so I need to be absolutely sure I need to have Xenons: So a couple of Questions before i take the plunge: 1) Do they really make a difference to the car's looks? 2) How Much more enhanced are the cars looks because of the Xenons? Are these really "must-haves"? 3) Are there any other benefits for having Xenons? If you can mention all the benefits, it would be awesome 4) Most importantly, how will this affect my RFI date? My order was placed on 02-Aug-2012 and the current RFI is 21-Nov-2012? Are talking a few days, weeks or months more? |

1) Do they really make a difference to the car's looks?
DEFINITLY.. Look at pictures of the Xenon and the normal Light.. Not only at night, even at day the difference between the normal Daylight and the Xenon LED light ist really big.. The normal halogen light has a different daylight form. look at pictures, I would never buy an F20 without Xenon... 2) How Much more enhanced are the cars looks because of the Xenons? Are these really "must-haves"? Yes they are. At Night the Xenon light is really good 3) Are there any other benefits for having Xenons? If you can mention all the benefits, it would be awesome The lights at the back are also LED. They look very different, too 4) Most importantly, how will this affect my RFI date? My order was placed on 02-Aug-2012 and the current RFI is 21-Nov-2012? Are talking a few days, weeks or months more? No Idea, but I don't think it will affect your RFI date |

falco is right. Xenons make the F20 look a lot more 'premium'. Without xenons, the daylight running lights look really cheap in my opinion. The xenons have that beautiful outer illuminated ring.
Daylight running lights without xenons (right one is original): Daylight running lights with xenons: And it probably won't affect your RFI date. The date your car is being manufactured is already decided. Until that day, you still have the opportunity to contact your dealer and make changes to your order. Unless of course the parts you want, are in high demand. But I don't think that's the case with xenons. To be sure, just ask your dealer, he'll know. |

Don't forget that the reason why the manufacturer offers xenons is NOT to make the car look better, but because the driver is seeing a lot better in the dark!
A matter of safety rather than vanity. But with a very pleasant side effect

Had a similar dilemma when ordering and added even though rather expensive. Not regretted for a second since, has become the most pleasing option since ownership. Other goodies with the visibility pack are LED rear lights, auto lights, auto wipers(?) cornering lights, auto main light beam dip and anti-glare read view mirror. Go for it.

In UK the cornering lights are not included in the vis pack.
In Germany the packet is called "Adaptives Xenon - Licht Paket" and have them included. |

In South Africa, the Xenon are included in the Driving Lights Package as below...or can be added without including the rest of the package extras; SAZ1C Driving Lights Package - RRP from R17,500 = approx. £1,372(Model Dependent - 116i) SA524 Adaptive headlights SA431 Automatic anti-dazzle interior mirror SA522 Bi-Xenon headlights SA520 Front fog lamps SA502 Headlamp washer system SA5AC High Beam Assist SA430 Interior and Exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function SA521 Rain sensor and automatic headlight control The Xenons alone cost R5,300.00, but there is an automatic inclusion of the Headlight Washer system when you order xenon for R2,700.00, which totals to R8,000.00...which is an arm and a leg. My advice Jamot, get the package! Last edited by Latito; 08-14-2012 at 02:29 AM.. Reason: update |

You can get the highbeam assist without the xenon, you can get xenon without adaptive or without highbeam assist, but cannot get adaptive without xenon. |

The sales guy just got back to me, says it'll add +- 2 months to my RFI.
I think he's trying to discourage me, not sure why though since I'm adding to his commission. Anyway, not sure if he's been honest or not but I'm thinking of just going for them... Risk him being honest! |

I really just wanted the xenons , i would have happilly ordered them by themselves if i could have. all the other stuff is a bit rubbish apart from the dimming mirror.
The adaptive is alright , i hardly use it. Headlight automatic activation. i don't use. High beam assist doesnt work and ends up blinding other drivers. |
