Two years of an M135i - still love it
Hi All,
Our M135i has just hit two years and 25k miles and we still love it! Been to Germany in it (a long drive from Cornwall), tracked it and generally really enjoyed it. Hasn't missed a beat, still scrubs up very well, the performance still makes me grin. The kids fit in the back okay. The boot is a good size and I can fit a surfboard in it. Can't see us changing it for a while. Ideal! |

Stop gap
I bought my pre LCI M135i as a stop gap until the F80 M3 was launched. On test driving the M3 I decided not to go ahead as it didn't feel wildly superior to the M135i and indeed felt slower when giving gas at low RPM. I thought the M3 test drive would make the M135i feel rubbish but quite the opposite happened. I also tried the MB A45 and much preferred the M135i's performance.
I eventually bought an M5 and while I love it's ludicrous acceleration and M car handling attributes, I still miss certain aspects of the M135i. My next car after the M5 will probably be an M2 or maybe another M135i, depending on how the 2 compare |

Steve; a heck of an endorsement!
The M2 looks great but I need rear doors and a hatch boot. I do like a bit of subtlety too which the M135i has. Ideal for us; still feels special. I do love the M5 though; more than the M3/4 which I'm not that keen on. |

The M135i is the best performance bang for buck car BMW has ever released. Its unassuming appearance, which I quite like, is its only downside.

Likewise, I love mine still (1.5 years of ownership) spent time treating the rubber seals yesterday along with a leather treatment, it was a 4 hour job and enjoyed every bit of it.

I've had my M135i for 6 months LCI and love it! Came from a Vw Scirocco R. The M135i is hands down 100X better. IMO I think the scirocco is a tad sexier looks wise

I see it's still What Car's best hot hatch over £20k; it's held onto that title for ages!

Had the original pre LCI for 18 months which is a long time for me, then switched to a couple of M3s and later M4. While still have the bigger M car, I've come back to a M135i LCI as it is just such a good daily driver! I also live in the city so the size and turning circle of the M135i is an added bonus compared to M3/4. A friend who is returning his end of lease M135i soon picked up a M3 intending as a replacement, but now realise how good the M135i is. So he may try to buy the M135i as well from BMW/auction house. Another friend who also used to own a M135i but now have a M3 is also looking at getting back into a M135i. Sure these cars are not perfect (suspension is a little floaty for my liking) but there isn't much out there to match it!

I wouldn't consider one post LCI with that horrific back end but hey, it's more or less the same car so no need to shout about it - you'd also have to order a used one which probably wasn't an option.

It is indeed. I have no desire to replace mine for quite some time!

I think you hit in on the nail there. I considered the RS3 and A45 just to have something a bit different (and stop being a BMW fanboy lol) but at the end of the day the M135i is still the most fun to drive and almost just as quick. The money equation is just a bonus in my case!

But we're very happy with the mpg; it's genuinely good if you are careful and we usually get over 300 miles from the fairly small fuel tank. Let me know if you need any more help and you're welcome to have a nose around mine; I'm in Polzeath. |

I've had my manual baby for 76k km, about 47k miles, every time I get into it, it is honestly such an amazing experience! I could go on and on about how much I love it, but as previously stated, one of BMW's best production car!

Nothing else fits my brief as well;
1) Fast, properly fast 2) RWD 3) NOT a four cylinder 4) Comfortable 5) Decent ride 6) 300+ miles on one tank 7) Hatch or estate (sorry but I find saloons/saloon derived coupes a very silly shape) so practical. 8) Subtle; I don't like shouty cars. Gives the wrong impression to clients too. So yes other things are faster, maybe more track focussed but nothing else combines all these qualities. I reckon it's replacement (eventually) could well be another one. |
