TMC gearbox tune 8 speed Auto only m135i
Hi guys , anyone running the TMC gearbox tuning solution ? Good and bad points?
TMC AutoFlash Engine and Gearbox Tuning For BMW gasoline and diesel to 3.0 LTR. Our revolutionary new product is a hand held self contained device which you plug into the cars OBD diagnostic socket (usually located in the drivers footwell area) to upload new maps to the engine ECU and gearbox TCU to give increased performance with 50% faster gear shifts, we also remove the speed limiter where possible (this is not guaranteed to work with every model). The device uploads the new maps within 30-90 seconds and will not add a count to the ECU flash counter, programming is started and completed with audible beep sounds and an LED, it is also not dealer traceable and can be used as many times as required if the dealer flashes new software to the car during a service. The device locks itself to the chassis number of the car it is first used on and will not work on any other car. The results we have seen during over 1 year of testing have been truly amazing. TMC AutoFlash has been introduced after of years of research and development into a new tool to program existing vehicles and future anti tuning vehicles through the OBD port, creating a simple easy to use system to increase the performance and drivability of any automatic geared vehicle.AutoFlash will work on all auto, tiptronic, DSG and paddle shift cars including supercars such as Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini and luxury cars such as Rolls Royce and Bentley but will also give superb results on normal production cars such as VAG Group, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes and Nissan. One of the biggest selling features of this product is that it is undetectable by dealers as it does not change the ECU flash counter or file size of the ECU map. TMC AutoFlash uses a 64 bit processorfor ultra fast programming of your controller which enables both engine and gearbox tuning to take place in under 2 minutes unlike any other tuning tool available. Providing increased engine power and 50% faster gear shifting along with speed limiter removal where applicable, the new TMC AutoFlash is the only engine and gearbox tuning solution for modern cars. |

Are you sure this is available for the M135i? N55/8-AT? Or just the previous 135i?
First I have heard of a successful flash tune solution if so.

This is the email I received
Hi ! we only offer our plug in system, these cars can't be remapped. Our plug in works really well and we also offer a super gearbox tune called AutoFlash if you have an auto gearbox. I really like the sound of the Gearbox tuning ? Best regards, Daron Brown - International Sales, |

Then you should purchase the £900 kit, and let us know the outcome.
Personally, I'm at a loss to figure out what needs to be done to the ZF 8-AT -- it's smooth in Comfort, changes rapidly up and down in Sports/Sports+, and very responsive when you shift manually...even more responsive than some DCTs I've driven.

Thanks for your input ....It's all about torque loading IMO !! When you pump more power into the car/ gearbox the dynamics change. Don't get me wrong one of the main reasons I purchased this car was the characteristics of the gearbox. But could it possibly get any better ? That's was my question !
So, the idea of the AutoFlash is to not only increase shift speed but to increase torque limitations throughout the gearing (except for 1st and reverse gears as we tend to leave these at factory spec for safety) which in turn changes the speed of a shift, typically by 17% but up to 24% in certain circumstances. Another great benefit of the AutoFlash is the increased longevity of the clutch system, we have seen increases of 10-30% on egear, 15-30% on DSG, 10-30%+ on Rtronic and Stronic and so far we have PDK powered cars with 35,000km on our AutoFlash software upgrade. The AutoFlash is thoroughly tested both on the road and the track (where applicable) and we are sure you will agree that the shift and positive feel of the engine after the flash makes for a superb upgrade. Illustration!
I also note there are companies popping up with this gearbox tuning solution like : VR tuned for the m235i and ZeusFlash - all landing similar lines or technology's road maps. Last edited by chaddy74; 05-13-2014 at 11:34 PM.. |

I don't follow - are you saying that you increase the way that torque is limited (i.e. reduce torque) during a change which allows the change to be faster? Or do you increase torque during the change relative to factory? In which case, surely that won't improve gearbox longevity.
Further, what sort of controlled trials have been done on these gearboxes? How many cars, distance travelled, how were the tests standardised etc?

Ok to clear things up here !!
900 pounds gets you both the piggyback and the gearbox tune !! Hi, if you purchase the AutoFlash package at £899 on our webshop you will get both and the results are astonishing. Then you should purchase the £900 kit, and let us know the outcome. TMC seem all over the place, in terms of their explanation. Torque is limited by the gearbox ECU for very good reasons. I'd need to see a lot more test results, including specific results for the M135i ZF-8AT before I'd even touch it. Also, chaddy, the table you posted above relates to a Golf DSG, not the M235i.

Yes im feeling i need more information also !! Im happily running the JB4 map 2 with my associated mods without issue. Looking to add the EWG harness in the near future to add the extra 3psi of boost..... that's until the stock ecu can be flashed or tuned to my spec.

Where is the proof? dyno results? videos with WOT acceleration times? How can one AutoFlash cover ALL engines/gearboxes to 3,0liters (non + turbo charged and different automatic gear-boxes)?
Sorry, but this seems a bit suspicious to me... |

The information I have is that the ZF box uses the same set up in the 135i, 125i & 125D
These 3 engines have very different torque and horsepower outputs. The Gearbox is designed to accept the input (in whichever mode) at a set parameter (input of torque-revs- loading etc). This same box is also used in other Uber powered cars. My issue is that if you change these parameters you would definitely void the warrantee if something goes wrong. I would not be willing to take that risk for a couple of milliseconds. If there is a written warrantee backed by BMW then I may look at these products. |
