About to trade in my F30 for a 5 door M135i
Hi fellow 1addicts,
Today I had a discussion with my dealer about my feb '12 (8000miles) F30 335i. The car is noisy inside(there is a warranty fix for it) and my HK sound system sucks/radio reception is poor, Comfort access is asleep sometimes. And it consumes about 1 litre oil in about 2000 miles, today for the second time in 4000 miles the warninglight came on This is my third turbo petrol BMW(335i N54/535i F10 N55, and this one) and the first with lots of problems. The dealer and I more or less came to a deal and I'm willing to go 'back' to a 5 door M135 8AT , the point is which options to choose from. I'm an audioslave but I also like full aircon, big satnav and other goodies, maybe I won't go with leather this time( € 1543,- option in NL) I 'm getting a headache from this bs because after all I love the looks/drive of my F30...and now I have to look the optionslist over and over again which goodies to choose, of a car which I really like but not because of its (non)beauty, more of its capacities(I had two M3s in the past and also a 120d Mk1 for half a year) .It seems like I'm in a midlife crisis (turning 43 this spring) and the world is in crisis(a good argument for me to downsize LOL). My wife doesn't like the EB colour, but hey it's gonna be EB. For sure. My kids want the 5 doors version etc etc. Member Adevo (the 1M driftguy) is my friend and we talked about it for 100 times, what to do. second hand 1M/ M135i/ keep the 335i. Tomorrow I'll talk to my dealer about the pros and cons and IF/when to collect the M135i(feb/mar 2013 I guess?) Thanks for reading. Cheers Robin Last edited by Robin_NL; 11-12-2012 at 03:16 PM.. Note that the leather is free with the 'upgrade edition' action.
But if you're fussing over things like the sound system and comfort access I seriously doubt the F20 will be a better car for you, most of it is the same... Perhaps you should consider an F10? - Rick

My 335i has a lot of problems unlike any BMW I had. It's a new car with new problems. Built by workers with a hangover maybe? Who knows... I had a F10 535i. This is my 9th BMW...seven 3 series , one F10 and one 120d(2004)... I guess I know what I'm talking about(the problems with my 335i) Cheers Robin |

The 1er has grown to a similar size to that of the previous 3er in internal space. so you will find it only slightly smaller, The good news is you get a five door hatch with real atitude. Subtle when in comfort (4W&Ks) and in sport the power to weight is better then the 3er so you should enjoy the experience.
It will never compete in 'looks' with a 335i, however a F20 in the right colour and fitted with a few BMW performance extras (19" wheels), sills and spoilers can look awesome. |

If you have a chance to buy a nicely used, low mileage 1M for a good price and still considering anything else than either you are not in midlife crisis yet (I am also 43) or you are not hearing what Andre should be telling to you!
I have two kids, 2 and 4 year old and a day trip in 1M with them is far from being complicated, older one wants me to pick her up from the kindergarden with the VO 1M, not with my wife's perfectly sensible and practical Skoda Yeti. I use it everyday everywhere, it just rocks. Otherwise, if I would choose anything from the actual BMW line up I would also go for a 5 door, 8 auto (xdrive or rear drive should be decided after actually testing both) M135i. You can't go wrong with that one, especially so if it will be your only car.
