Nothing particularly new about indirect water injection. It was originally used on piston engined fighters in WWII as means of increasing charge density. Saab offered indirect water injection as a knock retardant back in the 1970s on their turbo 99 model but it didn't really catch on as intercoolers proved a more reliable route to the same end point, more recently it has been used by aftermarket tuners as a way to chase ultra high boost pressures. Deliberate mixing water of with the fuel to form an emulsion certainly is novel but plenty of bangers have been inadvertently doing it for years. I can see that just like with indirect water injection there will be some charge density benefits but it won't be a panacea for all ills.
