To be honest I only took the winter tyres off because I plan to take the car on holidays in couple of weeks time. I was running Michelin Pilot Alpin's and they just seemed to go on and on. I had worn them down to 3.5mm and saw no point keeping them for next winter.....excellent tyre though in all conditions.
As for storing the tyres overwinter they where kept in my unit. The unit is dry but unheated....they were only off the car for 7 months and were stored flat.
