The thread actually suggests using the white MTECs for DRL and sidelights, which are to attract safety attention and decorate (not to light through/penetrate anything), only.
For the low/high beam the suggested improvement (including the BMW Performance set, which is rumoured Philips but who wants to know?
) is for brighter (not whiter!) light.
