Quite the opposite for me. My dad was a grouch, but I'm thankful that he never called "ME" an idiot, even though he wouldn't hesitate to tell me that I was "BEING" stupid, or "DOING" something stupid. Trust me, I gave my parents PLENTY of opportunities to call me stupid, but I honestly can't recall a single event where they had used any insults...
