You have to book your car in to have it reprogrammed. BMW will ask to keep it for half a day. It takes them all of 15 minutes to do it.
Once programmed, It will then operate in whatever mode you have it in when you turned off the engine. I leave mine in the 'off' mode, so when you start up the orange led above the button is always on.
As usual, BMW service will charge like a wounded bull to do it.
I am so happy I had it done.
I had a bit of a chuckle yesterday,
I was crossing a road at traffic lights when a new M5 pulled up at the lights and then shut down. I could see the expletives coming out of the drivers mouth as he pushed that button. restart
I motioned to him to wind down his window, I informed him that I had mine reprogrammed and the associated cost.
He said he did not care how much it cost, he would get it done as soon as possible.
He thanked me, then drove off (what a glorious exhaust sound).
