Anyone out there had any experience with taking apart a door mirror on an F20 116d Sport?

Need to fix daughter's car ( see photo ) am I right in guessing the door mirror cover is in separate parts due to the LED indicator strip being now built in to the door mirror housing as opposed to a wing repeater?

I know the current 4 Series is in three separate parts, wondering if 1 Series is similar?

The bit the pink fluffy eared individual has clouted is apparently matt black as it is 'Sport' trim so I'm reckoning flat and polish and touch up and or clear coat lacquer is going to look a bit shite. Not too keen in approaching the 'stealer' as I suspect they will try and take my eyes out saying it will have to be replaced so quite happy to have a go at repairing it myself if it comes in separate parts.

Any help would be much appreciated guys!
