This was previously discussed, and you can find tons info. Basically BMW thinks you don't need it anymore. Many test it out themselves, including myself, that the oil temp stays at something no more than 120 c even when you push it.
As to see the oil temp you need to access the hidden menu. The method of accessing the hidden menu is in the DIY section. You can also get a ELM327 dongle that uses bluetooth to send lots info to your phone. There is an application for your smart phone called Torque, and it has loads of stuff (you can find info online.) There is also the WIFI version. One of them has issue with iPHONE I heard. FYI.
