my 2013 pre-LCI F20 now feels like a 2017 LCI F20...

I've just had my steering rack replaced on pre-LCI [Sept 2013] F20 car by BMW.

My car went initially for randon rattle / rumble from RHS front - the dealer did PUMA adaptive FW update - which is alledgedly suppose to fix a known problem with clonks/thumps/rattles from adaptive dampers. That didn't cure my issue, hence the EPS rack change out. I was told that parts had been superceded and I'd be getting newest version of EPS rack and associated control module.

Car had latest assorted ECU re-flashes including VDC [variable damping control]. My pre-LCI car now feels like the latest encarnation both in terms EPS feel and damping responses.

Since above FW update, adaptive damper responses and hence road manners are much better compared to previously. My M135i's comfort mode now feels taut but still supple, like M2xxi comfort. Sport / sport+ mode feels noticeably tauter.

EPS rack in comfort mode is now more responsive and direct with a heavier feel plus differential in feel between comfort and sport is less.
