215/40 and 245/35 are an OD match.
225/40 and 255/35 are an OD match.
If you're running a square setup, I would use 235s.
If you want to run a narrower tire up front, I would not use anything under 225 for an 8" wide wheel, it's too narrow. Even a 225 is a bit narrow for an 8".
If you want to run staggered, go with 225/40 and 255/35.
255 is a tad wide for an 8" wheel, but better to have more tire than less in this case, I would argue.
If you want to run a square setup with 235/40 is a bit tall and 235/35 is a bit short.
235/35 will "read" about 1.1% faster than a 245/35.
