I had a similar issue on one of my previous car (not BMW)
It turned out to be the exhaust butterfly which normally opens on warm up and then later I have a similar noise that turned to be from the heat shield under the pipes below the exhaust manifold. That shield was slightly warped from road water being blasting up onto it from a drive on a very wet day (highway) causing it to resonate at certain revs.
