There is a big difference. What you start with matters...

...and I have nothing against BMW expanding their market - as long as they don't lose their way. All the BMW cars I've owned have been M cars - and that includes an X6M. So yeah - I've bought a BMW SUV (albeit an M variant).

The danger is too much brand dissolution to the point where they simply no longer have the resources or inclination to design true performance vehicles...
