Best FWD proposition now, and seen it is in the low performance tier, RWD or FWD has low relevance for dynamics (not like M135i vs S3 discussions). The Golf will have better traction during wet and slippery conditions. Golf is more practical and build at least as solid as the bimmer. When you get the 140hp Golf, it's probably a rewarding ride also, probably more pleasing than the 114i.

It seems everything points towards the golf, I may try the 114i though as we've had 2 MK5 golfs and 2 MK6 golfs.
