The .44 magnum. Doc you know I am a huge fan of the 10mm and it is my go to gun for things that go bump in the night but we aren't talking about shooting people.

Bears have really thick hides, and then layers of fat and muscle while they are big boned animals. You want the penetration the .44 magnum offers. The round has to get to something vital or you are just pissing it off.

Also think about how are you going to carry whatever it is you decide. Maybe go with both one on each side in a shoulder holster so they create balance. Then consider how well you shoot them each. I shoot 10mm really well but when I step up to .44 magnum or .454 Casull that stuff is a much longer trigger pull and pain in the wrist. I wouldn't want to try that in a panic situation.
