I guess they're only counting the current M550d, X5 and X6 models because the M535i and M635CSi were definitely gas powered.

BMW's never been afraid to throw away their heritage before, though, so this shouldn't be surprising.

Also, I'm disappointed that they refuse to bring the hatch to the US. I know the 318ti didn't sell well but that car was ugly and was only available with the 4 cylinder engine. I had a 318is, that engine was seriously underpowered for the E36's weight. A 320 horsepower rear or all wheel drive hatch will sell like crazy in the US, I don't understand how they don't see that.
