I can not tell the difference between used and new oil from the drivers' seat in new cars. In some older cars I could hear the difference, due to noisy hydraulic tappets in the engine, particularly during cold starts.
It is also possible to feel the difference between different types of gearbox oils when it is cold outside.
I have 5 years service/warranty included, so I will run on the recommended Castrol oil.
