Yeah that is in case the object causing the puncture is not ''in the tyre'' anymore. Till now 95% of the time i experienced a puncture, the nail/screws or whatever caused the puncture was still in the tyre blocking the hole a bit. We are on a small island here..we can get to a tyre repair shop fairly quick
