yup. And debeers probably still controls about 90% of diamond mining in the world. They control supply and basically set the price by how they distribute. if they were to open their vault and bring their inventory to market, diamonds would be worthless.
debeers created the demand for engagement rings, and they control it all. its all complete bullshit, but we all have to buy into it for our significant others.
