If I had to put on my critical-hat though, my F20 does have more road noise than my previous Renault Megane had. This is probably just due to the fatter tyres though (225 vs 205 on the Frenchie). Definitely not more engine noise though, that aspect is great at speed... |
Wheels and tyres have a huge impact on road noise, I went from a 2001 e46 on pneumatic tyres 195/65/15 to my 2012 120d Sport on runflats with front 225/40/18 and rear 245/35/18.
Road roar on surfaces with the more grippy embedded gravel type finish were shockingly loud at first and smooth tarmac was quiet. I'm getting used to the new noise levels after my first month of ownership though and it's less of an issue now.
