The supports on the upper back can be adjusted, there's an electric switch hidden down the side of the seat that brings these further together or apart; it's nice to be able to adjust this I've found; as u say, in some cars it's in some default setting which isn't to everyone liking. I have a standard spec msport so it comes as standard on these!! Personally I love the sports seats, especially the hexagon cloth alcantara; I can't comment on the standard seats tho as I've never tried them!! I'm possibly biased tho, as every car I've owned has had some sort of sports seat in them
