I've never driven the A45 AMG, so I can't say from first-hand experience, but it is not strictly a necessity that AWD produce understeer. It is often the case that AWD cars do understeer more, but this is only because of the way they're set up, or because of the specific type of AWD system used, not specifically because the car is AWD.
