As much as I read and heard about the next 1 series, it's probably going to be FWD.

Don't know about that, but making one FWD and the other RWD is far more costly for the production line, not to mention both models would have to have very different suspension setups, weight distribution (Normally for a FWD car is better to have slightly more weight at the front and 50:50 distribution for RWD). One of the reasons they are moving to FWD is more space in the cabin (no transimission tunnel, no diff under the trunk), so that would mean different chassis as well. Hope I'm wrong though.
