My experience is that various brake problems can happen on all cars, but they are more common with more sporty brake pads. Brake squeal and vibrations are maybe the most common symptoms. Luckily they can typically be removed by running in the brake pads again.

Procedure:

Do a series (5-8) of braking exercises where you go from 100 km/h to 20 km/h and back rather quickly. Don't stop. If the brakes start to fade or smell strongly, you have done enough.

After the last one, keep driving without stopping or touching the brake pedal for 5-10 minutes, to let the brakes cool down.

I have "fixed" brakes on several cars this way. On our F20 with the small brakes, it has not been necessary yet.
