I bought a 1M for driving. I picked the color because it looks great (IMO).
I suspect the great majority of actual owners feel the same way.
I didn't buy it to think it could conceivably be worth a couple of more dollars if I ever want to let it go.

It's almost perverse to imagine buying this kind of car so an owner's fragile ego can be temporarily massaged by feeling superior because of ... a limited number? ... a color? You think people in Germany have spent decades of work for that?

It drives wonderfully. Near perfectly in most areas. Other people and I get to take advantage of that. End of story.

You're missing the point. Certainly, any 1M owner paid a premium for performance. But Valencia Orange was billed as this limited edition's "signature color" along with only two other color options (b/w).

The color is not relevant to the car's performance, but is/was relevant to the uniqueness of the car AS PROMOTED BY BMW.

BMW is building an unfortunate reputation of switching gears on it's most discerning customers on a regular basis. THAT is significant.
